Your emailed receipt is your record for tax purposes. No goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution unless we state otherwise in your acknowledgment. The IRS requires a written acknowledgment for any single gift of $250 or more, and your receipt serves that purpose.
We cannot give tax advice — please check with your own adviser about your circumstances.
Card details are entered on our payment provider's own secure checkout, not on this site, and are never stored by us. Our provider is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified, the highest level of payment security certification.
On our side, every payment notification is cryptographically signed and verified before it is accepted, and a repeated notification cannot be counted twice.
Yes — choose "monthly" on the donation form. Regular giving is the most useful kind we receive, because it lets work be planned to a date rather than to a hope.
To change or stop a monthly gift, contact us and we will take care of it.
A receipt is emailed automatically as soon as the payment is confirmed, carrying the amount, the date and your reference number.
If it has not arrived within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then contact us with your reference and we will resend it.
Yes. The donation page lets you direct a gift to any of our commitments, and designated gifts stay designated — they are tracked against that work and reported with it.
If a purpose is already fully funded or cannot proceed, our board may apply your gift to the closest comparable purpose, and we say so publicly rather than reallocating quietly.
If you would rather we apply it wherever the shortfall is greatest, choose "where it is needed most", which is the default.
Yes. Contact us and we will send the details, along with instructions for referencing the gift so it can be matched to you and receipted properly.
